SmithAmundsen Opens Columbus Office Expanding Its Midwest Presence

We are pleased to announce the opening of our office in Columbus, OH, increasing our geographic footprint in the Midwest and expanding our scope of services in Ohio, including Cincinnati. The office is led by Michelle Casper, a litigation partner, and joined by associate, Alex Freitag.

Michelle brings tenacity and dedication to each case and every client. She serves as lead litigator for many of the firm’s clients in Ohio and Indiana, counseling on matters pertaining to commercial litigation, business disputes, and complex negligence issues. She also works comfortably with civil practice and procedure cases, including catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death cases, and retail litigation. Michelle is well known in the Columbus business community and is currently the president of the local chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, an organization dedicated to propelling women business owners into greater economic, social and political spheres of power. She earned her Juris Doctorate from IIT/ Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Alex is licensed in Ohio and Kentucky and his practice is focused on civil litigation, including personal injury, premises liability, breach of contract, and declaratory judgment. He defends clients facing claims with questions of liability, causation and damages, and has dealt with complex legal issues involving the First Amendment and sovereign immunity. Prior to joining SmithAmundsen, Alex represented both plaintiffs and defendants in civil cases, as well as handling Ohio Workers’ Compensation claims and Social Security Disability Appeals. Alex earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
