Hispanic National Bar Association Hosts 41st Annual Conference in Chicago

The Hispanic National Bar Association Host’s its 41st Annual Conference in Chicago. The conference took place from September 7 through September 10 at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile with breakout sessions every day on topics ranging from public policy to professional development.

Sulema Medrano, partner in our commercial litigation group, was a panelist for “Beware of Spoliation: Civil and Criminal Penalties for Destroying Stale Information,” which covered how courts in the five most populous states (California, Florida, Illinois, New York and Texas), are handling spoliation.

Sulema also presented the HNBA Latino Judge of the Year Award to the Honorable Judge Rubén Castillo at the awards reception, which took place at the Chicago Cultural Center. Several other honorees were also recognized.

Moses Suarez, partner in our health care group, was a panelist for “Which Bathroom? Legal Challenges to Transgender Rights in North Carolina and the Rest of the U.S.,” which covered legislation that limits the rights of transgender individuals, and what efforts are being taken to challenge it.
