Overview

Amundsen Davis secured a defense verdict for a general contractor in a case involving a construction injury accident. Our client was accused of leaving two “angle irons,” two long pieces of metal used to install bricks over an open window, in the garage. The plaintiff alleged that while carrying a piece of drywall, he tripped on the angle irons and sustained an ankle fracture, which led to three surgeries. He had medical testimony that he now has arthritis and may need an ankle fusion or replacement later in life. We successfully barred lost wages and medical bills from being admitted at trial. The plaintiff’s prayer to the jury was $3.6 million. Prior to trial, we offered a $30,000 settlement. The jury returned a verdict in favor of our client.
