Sulema Medrano was included in the 2016 Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s list of “40 Under Forty Attorneys to Watch.” She was selected based on nominations from her peers. The publication looks for attorneys who are intelligent, passionate, and successful in the office, active in the community, and possess a strong work ethic. Over 1,300 nominations for attorneys were submitted from across the state.
Kaitlyn Chenevert with the Illinois Office of the Attorney General stated, “I have always said that Sulema is one of the few people who was truly born to be in a court room…She is always an advocate, and it comes across in everything that she does because Sulema is always looking for ways to help people solve their problems.” Sulema’s clients recognize that her tenacity and legal knowledge is a rarity.
Sulema Medrano made partner this year and was included on the 2016 Illinois Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list. She presented the Hispanic National Bar Association Latino Judge of the Year award at the 41st Annual Conference of the HNBA in September. Sulema sits on the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois and regularly volunteers with the Trial Advocacy program as well as the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s network.
Sulema joins a list of other illustrious SmithAmundsen attorneys who have also achieved this honor including Mike McGrory, Julie Proscia, Gary Zhao, Jeffrey Risch, and Ryan Jacobson.
