Matthew knows first-hand the importance of securing and protecting intellectual property. Prior to law school, he worked in and around Los Angeles within the entertainment industry and as a freelance writer and director of short films and stage plays. Today, he works with artists and businesses to secure, defend and enforce their intellectual property rights.

Matthew focuses his practice on trademark, copyright, advertising and entertainment law. He works closely with clients developing global brand procurement and enforcement strategies. Matthew has significant experience in domestic and international trademark clearance work, prosecuting federal trademark applications and working with foreign counsel in obtaining and enforcing foreign trademark registrations. Matthew has represented clients in litigation in federal court as well as in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. 

Matthew also regularly advises clients on matters related to licensing, ownership changes, social media, talent agreements, book publishing, film options, e-commerce, unfair competition, copyright protection, DMCA issues, FTC compliance, and trade secrets. He has worked with clients in various industries including clothing and apparel, bed and bath, food and beverage, entertainment and sports.
