Ball State University, B.A., 2006, cum laude

Colin Gainer is no stranger to the courtroom; he grew up playing in one. His mom worked for a judge and accompanying her to work indirectly exposed him to the legal field. He ultimately became a lawyer because he wanted to help people solve problems they could not solve on their own.

As a member of the Health Care Practice Group, Colin regularly deals with issues related to health information technology. His undergraduate degree in computer science and background in computer programming proves helpful when dealing with issues regarding personal health information, data breaches and auditing of electronic records systems. He provides consultation services on general HIPAA and HITECH compliance issues for covered entities and business associates.

His experience in medical malpractice defense includes delayed diagnosis/misdiagnosis claims, birth injury litigation, institutional negligence claims and nursing home and long term care facility litigation. Colin’s practice also includes medical device litigation, where he has experience on issues including pedicle screw manufacturing, robotic surgery, tracheostomy tube design, laser surgery, and assistive devices.
