BTI bases its findings on the more than 3,100 client interviews it has conducted over the last 11 years. For its 2012 survey, BTI interviewed 240 corporate counsel, representing 66.7% of the Fortune 1000 and Global 500 corporations. The average revenue of the participating companies is $13.1 billion. Participants represent a broad range of industries, including banking, chemicals, consumer goods, energy, financial services, high tech, insurance, investment banking, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, professional services, retail trade, telecommunications, transportation, and wholesale trade.
