Doug understands mechanics and how things are built, which is an asset to his clients facing patent and intellectual property issues. Prior to his legal career, he was a test pilot and carrier-based fighter pilot in the United States Navy. He obtained experience in the development and testing of aircrafts and aircraft systems including gas turbine, flight controls, navigation systems and avionics, as well as analyzing and determining the causes of aircraft accidents. 

As a registered patent attorney and a member of our Intellectual Property Practice Group, Doug protects the intellectual property assets of his clients, while respecting the intellectual property rights of others. He assists clients with patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright issues in a variety of industries, including aviation, automotive, medical, manufacturing, telecommunications and sporting equipment.
