Athletes Score a Win in Ongoing Dispute
by Tim Epstein
An article written by
Tim Epstein
, chair of the firm’s Sports Law Practice Group, titled “Athletes Score a Win in Ongoing Dispute,” was published in the Tuesday, October 2, 2012 edition of the
Chicago Daily Law Bulletin
.
Tim’s article discusses the decision of an arbitration panel to overturn the suspensions of four New Orleans Saints players originally suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The article explains how jurisdiction was granted to the three-member panel and discusses the scope of the commissioner’s disciplinary authority to issue these sanctions. Tim emphasizes how significant this victory is, but suggests that the nullification of these suspensions might not end the commissioner’s pursuit to discipline the four athletes.
