On July 29, 2010, Jeff Risch, Chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group, appeared on WFLD-TV Fox News Chicago. During the evening segment, the topic of employers doing credit checks in the hiring process was covered. Specifically, Jeff discussed how he encourages his clients to do a credit check, especially those seeking high level and financial positions.
The segment concluded by informing that if Governor Quinn signs the bill sponsored by Representative Jack Franks, credit checks of prospective employees will be illegal in Illinois for almost all openings except those within banking institutions. Governor Quinn has until August 24, 2010 to decide.
