Gary Zhao
, a partner in the firm’s Chicago office, received the prestigious Asian American Bar Association’s Member of the Year award at this year’s Installation Ceremony and Reception on July 28, 2010. Only one AABA member is selected each year for this honor. Gary was recognized for his professional achievement as an attorney, his mentoring of law students, and his pro bono service to AABA's Chinatown legal clinic and the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Gary was also installed as a member of the Board of Directors of AABA at the ceremony.
Earlier this year, Gary, was appointed an Ambassador for the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section. Selection as a Business Law Ambassador is intended to be an honor which carries a prestige and distinction reflecting the substantive contributions of a business lawyer who has been active in a national bar organization for lawyers of color. As an Ambassador, he will focus on recruiting minority attorneys to join the Business Law Section and identify substantive areas of common interest in which members and committees of their respective national bar minority organizations can coordinate with, and participate in, the work of the Section. Gary is also a member of the ABA’s Cyberspace law committee as well as the subcommittee on Privacy and Data Security.
