Firm News

Larry Schechtman, Managing Partner of SmithAmundsen, was recently quoted in Chicago Lawyer magazine. The article, "Following Clients to the Suburbs,” discusses that although historically Chicago’s most prominent law firms have had offices downtown, many firm’s with addresses in the Loop are finding that it also pays to have a presence in the suburbs.  Larry explains that while SmithAmundsen has several suburban offices enabling face-to-face client interaction, the firm is finding it beneficial to also have a new “virtual” office in Lake County. Thanks to video conferencing and e-mail, the three lawyers who used to work at SmithAmundsen’s Waukegan office now work from their homes in Lake County, and they also stop in regularly at the firm’s Chicago and Milwaukee offices. In addition, they can meet with clients at a shared office space that SmithAmundsen has in Deerfield. This new “virtual” passes cost savings on to clients, while still offering a local presence in the business community.
