Jennifer Reddien, co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Task Force, spoke at the 2009 Asian American Bar Association’s Law Student Forum at DePaul University on Saturday, October 17, 2009. Jennifer served as a panelist on the event’s private law panel. Each panel consisted of 4-5 speakers who gave a presentation about their profession and then answered audience questions. Other forum panels included: government law; in house/public interest/solo practitioner; speed mentoring/resume review; and alternative legal careers.

The AABA strives to forge mentoring relationships between law students and newer attorneys with experienced attorneys. SmithAmundsen partner Gary Zhao is a member of the AABA Mentoring Committee and is an organizer and participant in the annual Forum.  This year, he participated as a “speed mentor” at the forum, providing career/networking advice to approximately 7 to 8 law students and recent law grads. He also offered each student tips on how to improve their respective outlook on obtaining gainful employment in the Chicago legal market.
