There are two cases of first impression in Illinois that are reported in this edition. In
McRaith v. BDO Seidman, LLP
, 391 Ill. App. 3d 565, 909 N.E.2d 310 (1st Dist. 2009), an Illinois appellate court held that the State Director of Insurance as liquidator of an insolvent insurer could sue the insolvent companies’ accounting firm for assisting the sole shareholder in the financial wrongdoing that led the company to insolvency. In
Strickland v. Kotecki
, 392 Ill. App. 3d 1099, 913 N.E.2d 80 (3d Dist. 2009), an appellate court held that the rescue doctrine permits an injured rescuer to recover from the defendant who placed himself in danger.
