Sandy Williams is a partner in the St. Charles office of SmithAmundsen. He has been a trial lawyer for over twenty years, handling complex personal injury and property damage cases. He has combined experience in civil litigation to successfully defend professionals involved in construction and manufacturing industries. Sandy is a frequent lecturer on topics important for our clients, such as property damage claims and insurance coverage issues. He has successfully litigated cases involving construction defects, architect/engineer liability, product liability, and catastrophic defense.
Sandy has successfully handled construction defects cases concerning building subsidence involving geo-technical and structural engineering issues; masonry; truss, and welding failures; water leakage from curtain walls and roofs, design and installation of EIFS. He has defended architects and engineers in cases of alleged errors in architect’s detailing of masonry walls, roofs, and storm water drainage design. He has also handled several catastrophic defense cases. Recently, Sandy successfully defended a general contractor in a case alleging defective construction where a wall collapsed seriously injuring 11 people. In addition, he has handled product liability cases ranging from propane tanks, lawn mowers, conveyors, water heaters, computers, water slides, rollerblades and warnings on labels.
Sandy was named to the Illinois Super Lawyers* list for 2005 and 2006, a peer review designation published by Law & Politics magazine. He has also received a BV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for his legal ability and ethics and was named a Leading Lawyer in construction law, insurance, insurance coverage and reinsurance law, personal injury defense law, and products liability defense law by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company.
