Raymond J. Melton

Ray Melton is a partner in the Rockford office of SmithAmundsen. He is an experienced trial attorney with numerous personal injury verdicts, and as lead counsel has tried over 40 jury trials to verdict in the civil and criminal courts. Ray concentrates his practice in civil litigation, personal injury defense, product liability defense, commercial litigation, and insurance coverage. He has successfully handled a wide variety of legal matters including all aspects of personal injury defense, general litigation, debt collection, and criminal defense. Ray also has a particular interest in issues concerning criminal law and zoning. Prior to joining SmithAmundsen, Ray worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney for five years where he prosecuted both felony and misdemeanor cases.
Ray serves as an arbitrator in the Winnebago County Mandatory arbitration program. Ray is also licensed in the Northern District of the U.S. District Court in Illinois.
