Kim is partner in SmithAmundsen’s Rockford office where she concentrates her practice in family law and elder issues with a focus on counseling clients in domestic relations litigation, probate and mental health matters. Kim has been appointed Guardian ad Litem and Advocate counsel by the Winnebago County Circuit Court to represent minors and disabled adults in various legal proceedings. Kim is a trained family law mediator and volunteer facilitator for divorce realted matters in Winnebago County since 2010. Kim also has experience in school district defense. She was appointed hearing officer to preside over suspension and expulsion hearings for the Rockford Public School District.
In addition to her extensive legal practice, Kim has trained and worked as an arbitrator for nearly 20 years. She was also recently named a Leading Lawyer* in elder law and family law by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company in 2010 and 2011.
Kim is admitted to practice before all Illinois state courts and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to joining SmithAmundsen, Kim practiced privately.
