Peter Maris
Associate
Peter Maris is an associate in SmithAmundsen’s Chicago office and a member of the firm’s Insurance and Financial Services Groups. Peter is a proud alum of SmithAmundsen’s Summer Associate Program. Prior to joining SmithAmundsen, Peter worked in the legal department of EverBank in Jacksonville, Florida, updating the bank’s contract database. He also served as a judicial intern in the chambers of The Honorable William M. Conley, District Judge, Western District of Wisconsin. Peter worked closely with Judge Conley and his clerks researching and drafting opinions and orders in patent, contract, and criminal cases. He also has professional experience drafting motions and complaints, analyzing documents related to the corporate, transportation, commercial, health care, insurance and financial services industries, and attending depositions, witness preparation meetings, motion arguments, mediations, and trials. Peter is fluent in Spanish.
Prior to beginning his legal career, Peter earned a bachelors of fine arts degree in acting from The University of Michigan and attended the renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England. Peter has been cast in numerous theatrical productions, including Titanic, South Pacific, Ragtime, Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar and Twelfth Night, and Virgil’s Aeneid.
