Jamie Lane is a partner in the firm’s Chicago office concentrating his practice in Commercial Transportation. He is an experienced trial attorney, having tried over 85 trials to verdict in many Illinois venues including Cook and its surrounding counties, Kankakee County, and Madison County. Recent verdicts include defeating claims of total disability, spoliation of evidence, and punitive damages in Madison County, Illinois alleged against a national commercial transportation carrier, and several traumatic brain injury matters with claims in excess of $5.25 million. Jamie concentrates his practice in the representation of motor carriers and their insurers and, in addition to litigating matters at trial, counseling them in all aspects of their business including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. He is a member of SmithAmundsen’s Commercial Transportation Rapid Response Team which is responsible for coordinating the securing of evidence, experts, and responding to catastrophic losses throughout Illinois and northern Indiana. Jamie also performs monitoring work and associates as counsel at the request of excess lines in catastrophic losses. Jamie is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois, and the Northern District of Illinois and is a member of the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois. In addition to his trial work, Jamie is well versed in Alternative Dispute Resolution having successfully resolved countless commercial transportation losses through ADR in his career.

Jamie served as managing partner for our St. Charles, Illinois office for several years having the responsibility of hiring associate attorneys, operating an office with 14 attorneys and mentoring numerous attorneys. He has received a preeminent AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for his legal ability and ethics. In his free time, Jamie is active in coaching baseball and travel basketball and volunteers for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
