Margaret C. Firnstein

Partner

As a partner in the firm’s Chicago office, Margaret focuses her practice in civil litigation, representing homeowners, condominium associations, small business owners, teachers, school districts, and construction-related entities in the defense of property loss and serious bodily injury/wrongful death claims.  She also defends premises liability cases on behalf of large retailers ranging from slip-and-fall to false arrest claims.

Her professional experience involves all phases of litigation including preliminary investigation, motion practice and final resolution through settlement, arbitration, and jury trial. Prior to joining the firm, she was an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.  While there, she tried numerous jury cases to verdict and worked within the criminal, narcotics, and juvenile justice bureaus.  She also authored twelve appellate briefs.

Margaret is licensed to practice in the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois.

In addition to her legal practice, Margaret is involved in mentoring young lawyers through the firm's summer associate program and trial advocacy academy.  She has been an Adjunct Professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law teaching Trial Advocacy since 2003 and also coaches the law school's mock trial team that earned the title of National Champions in 2007 and 2008.
