Michelle is an associate in SmithAmundsen’s Chicago office, focusing her practice on a wide variety of commercial and civil litigation matters in Illinois and Indiana. Her experience spans counseling individual clients and corporations on matters pertaining to property damage, construction defects, corporate law, professional liability, complex negligence matters, and homeowners’ litigation. Additionally, she is a member of the firm’s Diversity Task Force.
Prior to joining SmithAmundsen, Michelle began her law practice as an associate at an Indiana firm where she focused her practice on complex medical malpractice and negligence claims. Her background and experiences enable her to successfully defend her clients in all stages of litigation, from inception through trial. In her capacity at SmithAmundsen, she manages a large number of cases for a variety of corporate clients and she serves as the point person for SmithAmundsen’s clients with matters in Indiana. She is adept at Indiana practice and procedure and has handled a wide range of cases for our Indiana clients, including catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death cases, slip and fall accidents, and property damage.
In addition to her Indiana work, Michelle also handles a number of cases for the firm’s Illinois clients in matters spanning from construction negligence to automobile litigation. Michelle has achieved success in the court room, as well as positive resolution of cases through mediation, arbitration, settlement negotiations, and successful dispositive motion practice. Michelle is admitted to practice in Illinois and Indiana state courts, as well as the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois.
In her spare time, Michelle serves as an active member of the Illinois Association of Defense Counsel and volunteers with various philanthropic organizations, including the American Cancer Society and Old St. Patrick’s Church. She also serves a mentor for a former foster child aiming to attend college in a program sponsored by the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois.
