Robert D. Boroff

Associate

Robert is an associate in the Chicago office of SmithAmundsen where he focuses his practice in commercial transportation and construction litigation. His experience includes extensive involvement in all aspects of the litigation process from the investigative phase through trial. Robert is an experienced trial attorney who has recently first-chaired two jury trials where he received not guilty verdicts on behalf of his clients. As part of his practice, Robert takes and defends numerous depositions, including the depositions of expert witnesses.

Prior to joining SmithAmundsen, Robert worked for another Chicago law firm that specialized in the defense of construction, commercial transportation, product liability, and insurance coverage. During law school, Robert clerked for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Felony Division, where he first-chaired bench trials on behalf of the State of Illinois under Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711. Robert was the lead prosecutor in two felony narcotics cases where the defendants received sentences of seven years and three years, respectively, in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Robert was also a member of the Loyola University Chicago School of Law Moot Court Team where he received the Second Place Best Petitioner’s Brief Award while participating in the Evan A. Evans Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition. Finally, Robert was a Street Law instructor at Lane Technical High School where he provided legal instruction to high school seniors on a variety of criminal law issues.
