Kim is partner in SmithAmundsen’s Rockford office where she concentrates her practice in family law matters, with a focus on counseling clients in domestic relations litigation, probate, mental health, Guardian ad Litem, and child’s representative appointments. She has been appointed Guardian ad Litem by the Winnebago County Circuit Court to represent minors and disabled adults in various legal proceedings. She is also a volunteer facilitator for divorce related matters in Winnebago County. Kim also has experience in school district defense. She was appointed hearing officer to preside over suspension and expulsion hearings for the Rockford Public School District.
In addition to her extensive legal practice, Kim has been trained and worked as an arbitrator, including an emergency arbitrator, for nearly 15 years. She was also recently named a Leading Lawyer* in Elder Law and Family Law by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company.
Kim is admitted to practice before all Illinois state courts and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to joining SmithAmundsen, Kim practiced privately.
