Larry Schechtman is SmithAmundsen’s Managing Partner and a member of the firm's Executive Committee. He is an experienced trial attorney who has tried in excess of 50 cases to jury verdict since becoming an attorney in 1983. An active member in various bar associations, Larry handles a variety of complex litigation cases including defense of catastrophic injuries, third party litigation, premises liability, third party criminal attacks, including the defense of parents for the sexual crimes of their children. He has handled numerous claims brought under the Wrongful Death Act. In addition, a substantial portion of Larry’s practice is devoted to areas governed by the First Amendment including defamation, invasion of privacy, civil conspiracy, and false light claims. Larry is the head of the firm's Entertainment, Media and Privacy Group.

Larry has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for his legal ability and ethics and was named a Leading Lawyer in personal injury defense law and toxic torts defense law by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company.
